There are sixteen mistakes in verb tense and form usage. Underline and correct them:

London has been the home of many famous Englishmen . Some were born there. Some lived there all their lives. Others had lived in London only for a short time but all were given something to this great city.

One of the first names of importance is that of Geoffry Chaucer, the poet. He had spent most of his life in London. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

William Shakespeare also lived in London. He had lived there for more than twenty years. He had acted at the Globe Theatre and written his plays in London. But London's famous men are not only writers. Sir Christopher Wren, the architect , had spent most of his life in London. He would design many beautiful buildings , churches, including St. Paul's Cathedral.

Music will be represented by a very interesting figure. This is George Frederick Handel. He had come to London from Hanover in 1710. After some success and some failure he at last had become famous.

Another famous London figure has been one of England's greatest seamen, Admiral Lord Nelson. He had a very special memorial in Trafalgar Square. The monument consisted of a very tall column. On top of it is standing a figure of nelson. It was called the Nelson column.

or The excuse for declaring the war was defending their TR.

@ Bancrid

on the pretext = because of/ the reason for = The excuse for

You can not say : The reason for the declaration of the war because of territorial rights. The phrase"On the pretext of", which was written down in your answer, is an extraneous detail.

Another piece of good work despite some mistakes identified above. Good job.
